Thyroid disease - Cats

A three month health assessment for cats with thyroid disease is essential for the following reasons:

Cats with thyroid disease can frequently develop other conditions such as kidney failure, cystitis, heart disease and high blood pressure. Monitoring for signs of these problems and identifying them early is vital for successful treatment.
Thyroid drugs have side effects which can cause serious problems if not identified early, for example lowering blood platelet levels.
The dose of thyroid medication required for your cat can change at any stage and monitoring body weight, heart rate/rhythm and blood levels is vital.
Remember your pet cannot always communicate when something is wrong - a three month check is the opportunity for us to detect any changes or problems.
